Spring Term 2018/19 Week Beginning 25th February

Dear Carers,

Hope you have all had a wonderful half term, we are now well into Spring term and have lots of exciting things happening around school.

World Book Day

World Book Day is on Thursday 7th March 2019 and to celebrate we are inviting all children to come to school dressed as either their favourite book character or  in their pyjamas as we are going to use this day to promote the importance of bed time reading! We would love it if all children participated but if your child would prefer not to then they must wear their full uniform please.

We are also going to have a ‘book swap’, your child can bring in one book that they would like to put into the book swap shop and the choose another one to take home with them and keep!

‘Book People’ Book Fair

This will run every night after school starting on the 11th March for a week. Please note this is a different book fair to who we normally use. The books are cheaper, but unfortunately, you can’t use the vouchers you receive for ‘World Book’ day is this for a week

Red Nose Day

Red Nose Day is on Friday 15th March 2019. To raise money for this important charity your child is welcome to come in wearing red for a £1 donation - the more red the better! We would love it if all children participated but if your child would prefer not to then they must wear their full uniform please.

We will be selling red noses on the lead up to this date

Y5/6 London

Thank you for your February instalment. The next instalment is due in April. It’s getting closer!

Shoes

Please remember shoes throughout school need to be black. Several are wearing coloured boots or trainers and this is not part of our uniform.

Drinks

Can you ensure your child only brings in water please not diluted juice or fizzy pop. From Monday, this will be kept until sometime and children will be encouraged to drink water in school.

Booster classes

Thank you for supporting us with this after school. I can assure you that it will benefit your child enormously. There are several taking place throughout school this term.

Year 4 Camping Trip

A letter should have made its way home about a camping trip to Pybus. The cost is £35 and the money and return slip needs to be returned by March 29th. Please ask in school if you need a copy of the letter.

Nursery Trip

We are going on a visit to St. Peter’s Church, in Sunderland, on Tuesday 2nd April. This is to enhance our Religious Education topic of ‘Introduction to a church’ and ‘Easter’. This trip will take place during the morning session (we are leaving at 9am and returning for 11.40am) and will involve a range of activities including:  Learning about the Easter story/learning the signs and symbols on the kneelers in the church/ taking place on a walk and tour inside and outside of the church to explore the main features of a church and the purpose of them. The cost of the trip is £3.50. This includes transport, the activities and a donation to the church. Please pay the money into school by Friday 22nd March 2019.

As the children are young, our adult to child ratio is high. This is to ensure the safe wellbeing of all children. Therefore we would appreciate some parent/carer volunteers to assist staff in supporting groups of children to access the activities. If you are interested please inform a member of the Nursery team.
