Spring Term 2018/19 Week Beginning 25th March

Dear Parents and Carers,

KS1 End Event (Years 1 and 2)

This term, our children have been learning all about The Great Fire of London. We have been learning about the bakery on Pudding Lane and looking at the history of bread making. To celebrate this, we would love to invite you to KS1’s Bexhill’s Bakery. This will give you the opportunity to sample some delicious sweet treats your children have helped to make. Prices will start from 50p and all funds made will go towards enhancing the children’s learning experiences.

This will take place on Tuesday 2nd April, in our school hall. Doors to the bakery will open at 2:45pm and will close at 3:15pm.  Please enter through the conservatory, where your class teacher will be waiting with your child. You can then shop together at your leisure. We will also be having an eggciting Easter raffle.

Phonics club on that day only will be cancelled as you can take your child straight home from the hall.

If you are unable to attend our celebration, please collect your child from their normal exit point at 3:10 pm (Year 1) and 3:15 pm (Year 2).

Easter Assembly

On Wednesday 3rd April at 2:15pm our Y3 children we be taking part in an Easter assembly. Parents are welcome to attend. There will be some Easter crafts to purchase afterwards. No tickets etc are necessary.

Eggcellent time

We know Easter is not for a while yet, but we will be holding an egg hunt next week in school time. If you have any chocolate eggs you would like to donate for this then please hand them into our main reception. It would be much appreciated.

Also we will be having our annual Easter Egg Competition. (Y1-Y6). If your child would like to take part :

·               Be as creative as you can

·               Please ensure all entries are the children’s work

·               There will be a first prize and 2 runner ups from year groups.

·               Can all entries be brought into school on Thursday  4th April

·               Winners will be announced in assembly on the 5th

·               Ensure your child’s name is on their entry

Parents Evening

Thankyou to all the parents who were able to attend Parents Evening this week. Parents Evening will take place for the rest of the school in the first week back after the Easter holidays (23rd and 24th April). A letter should have came home today for you sign up to an appointment.

Camping

A camping residential to Pybus will take place in June. Please note that today was the last day for a priority place for our Year 4 pupils. We will now open this up to Y3. Letters will come home next week. Please note this is on a first come first served basis as we only have a small number of spaces left.

Class DoJo

You should have all received a paper invite with your child’s personal code. You can sign up and see how many DoJo’s your child has received.  You do need to click on the calendar to see different time periods. If you have any issues with this, do let us know and we will help.

Communication

As you know you are able to contact members of staff online via Class DoJo or Facebook. Please note that staff will respond to your message when they get the chance but teaching our children is our priority. Staff are not expected to respond to messages from 6pm -8am and do so only out of good will.  Please ring the office for school absences rather than let us know online.

School Holidays

Please note that we break up on Friday for our Easter holidays (Friday 5th April) and we return on Tuesday 23rd April. Please note parents evening is the first day back!

Home time

If you have children in the nursery and children elsewhere in school, please can you collect the older children first as nursery finish 20 minutes later. Staff are having to supervise your children whilst they wait for you.

Breakfast Club

This is currently being very well supported by parents and the children are having a lot of fun. Please can you ensure you see your child into the door (N-Y4) to ensure they safely arrive. They are not our responsibility until they come through the door. As you know our school is on a busy road and there  cars are everywhere!

School Values

This week we have read ‘Amazing Grace’, this book focussed upon gender and stereotypes. The British Values that were  talked about in  class was motivation, resilience and independence.

Attendance

This weeks attendance is 97%

Mrs Lewis’ and Miss Major/Potts’ class won the attendance award with 100%  Well done everyone!

Several children are coming into school late on a regular basis. Please can you get your children to school for 8:50. It is vital they attend their first lesson. We appreciate there may be the odd time where you are unfortunately late, but several pupils (some of whom are the same) are late on a daily basis.

Behaviour

Well done to Hawking House who won the cup this week by collecting so many Class Dojo’s!
