Bexhill Bulletin

Spring Term 2018/19 Week Beginning 11th March

Dear Carers,

School of the Week

Well done to our children this week who were on School of the week on Sun FM. As soon as I have the recordings I will share them online incase you missed them!

Red Nose Day

Thank you for all your support. We raised well over £300 by wearing red and we sold 400 red noses. All the money raised will go towards Comic Relief! Well done Bexhill Academy.

Nursery Trip

We are going on a visit to St. Peter’s Church, in Sunderland, on Tuesday 2nd April. This is to enhance our Religious Education topic of ‘Introduction to a church’ and ‘Easter’. This trip will take place during the morning session (we are leaving at 9am and returning for 11.40am) and will involve a range of activities including:  Learning about the Easter story/learning the signs and symbols on the kneelers in the church/ taking place on a walk and tour inside and outside of the church to explore the main features of a church and the purpose of them. The cost of the trip is £3.50. This includes transport, the activities and a donation to the church. Please pay the money into school by Friday 22nd March 2019.

As the children are young, our adult to child ratio is high. This is to ensure the safe wellbeing of all children. Therefore we would appreciate some parent/carer volunteers to assist staff in supporting groups of children to access the activities. If you are interested please inform a member of the Nursery team.

Parents Evening

Parents Evening will take place the first week back after the Easter holidays (23rd and 24th April). Please look out for the letter to sign up to an appointment. Some parents will be requested to meet earlier than this date and you will get a separate letter.

Wise Games

Save the Date! On May 20th Children from Y3-Y6 will be taking a sporting event with some of our other WISE schools. Parents, carers and family members are welcome to attend between 9am and 3pm and watch the fun.

Camping

Y4 camping residential to Pybus. Please be reminded that you have up until March 29th to sign up for this before places are offered to our Y3 children.

Mr Dixon

Mr Dixon’s wife has had a baby girl called Penny. Mam and baby are both doing well and we can’t wait to meet her. I am sure you will all join me in congratulating them both.

School Website

Please take the time to visit our school Website, it has been recently updated. There are guides for  parents for every year groups, policies, links to our FB page, uniform links, all the resents bulletins etc

School Values

This week we have read ‘The Other Side’, this book focussed upon racism. The British Value that talked about in our class was respect and kindness.

Road Safety

We have some children (some whom are very young) who are not crossing the road with parents or by using the safety crossing. Unfortunately, on two separate occasion this week, children from Bexhill have almost been knocked over. Please ensure if your child is in Y5/6 and walking alone that are able to do so safely. All other Year groups need to cross the road safely with an adult.

Bikeability

Well done to our Year 5 children this week, who all managed to pass their bike ability tests!

Attendance

This weeks attendance was 95%

Mrs McGovan’s class  won the attendance award with 100%  Well done everyone!

Behaviour

Well done to Mandela House (again) who won the cup this week by collecting so many Class Dojo’s!

You should have all received a paper invite with your child’s personal code. You can sign up and see how many DoJo’s your child has received. If you have any issues with this, do let us know and we will help.
