A story about attendance…

It’s amazing some of the things kids do just to get to school… if you have a few minutes, look at this link here: http://www.theguardian.com/world/2016/may/27/worlds-most-dangerous-school-run-chinese-children-800m-cliff

Attendance in school has been consistent during the summer half term at 95.3% (just below the national of 96%). It was 95.4% during the Spring, and 95.6% in Autumn. This shows that our weekly attendance is usually between 95-96%, meaning approx 15 children are off school each day. Obviously children get sick, and sometimes need to stay off school. What we’d like to improve is the percentage of children who are in more than 96% of the time. Basically, making sure that your child gets the same number of school days as most children nationally: it’s their entitlement, and is in theirs, and your, best interests. At the moment just over half of our children in school have more than 96% attendance – it would be great if you could do everything possible to get your child in school every day after the holidays.
