Summer Term 2018/19 Week Beginning 1st  July 2019

Diary

 Dear Parents and Carers,

2 weeks to go to the summer holiday and the days are very busy and hot!

Transition

You should now all know which teacher is going to be your child’s key worker in September, as the children brought this information home in a letter yesterday (Thursday). Children will be meeting their new teacher across Monday and Tuesday depending on their year group. The date has been changed for some year groups to accommodate the Y2 trip which needed to be rescheduled.

Year 2 trip to Raby Castle

This has been rescheduled to take place on Tuesday 9th July. The same arrangements as previously. Sorry for all the upset but we got there eventually!

EYFS End Event for 2 Year olds and Nursery Children

To celebrate the end our topic ‘Traditional Tales’ we would like the children to experience a trip to West Boldon Lodge where they will experience a range of outdoor activities linked to their favourite stories on Tuesday 16th July.

This will be a half day visit. The cost of the trip will be £5.20 to cover transport costs and the activities/resources provided by the venue. Please pay the cost of this trip by Friday 12th July. Your child will attend the trip during their morning or afternoon session and please ensure your child arrives to school on time as we will be leaving promptly to make the most of our time there.

Childcare/30 hours will be as normal this day and your child with attend the trip either on the morning or afternoon and stay in school with a member of the nursery team for the opposite session.

Please ensure your child:

  • wears old clothes that can get dirty and wears long sleeves and trousers to avoid insect bites and nettle stings.
  • has a lightweight raincoat and wellingtons.
  • has sun protection cream applied BEFORE they come to nursery if the weather is predicted to be hot.
  • has a cap or a sun hat.

Reception Graduation

This will take place on Wednesday 10th July at 1:45pm.  It’s an opportunity for  parents to see your child’s journey throughout Reception and to see them graduate. We still have tickets left,so if anyone is still needing any, just to ask our staff on the door.

Water Wipeout

On Thursday 11th July, children will be taking part in ‘Bexhill’s Water Wipeout’.On Thursday 11th July, children will be taking part in ‘Bexhill’s Water Wipeout’. This will be a sponsored event to raise money for our playground. We are very close to the target amount! Every child who raises £5 or more they will be entered in to a prize draw. There will also be a prize for the child who raises the most money! Children will take part in a fun run throughout the day around the field with some obstacles and challenges.

Can we ask that your child comes into school in old clothes. They will get changed into their uniform after the water wipeout so please make sure your child brings their uniform in a bag. Please bear in mind, your child may get soaked right through so please ensure you pack all items of clothing; including a towel, underwear and socks.

Year 3/4 End Event

The Year 3/4 Viking performance is on Monday 15th July.

Y3 - 9:30

 Y4 - 2:15

Our children have  made their own invitations for you and these went home the start of last week.

Y6 Leavers Assembly and Celebration

Incredibly, it is nearly time for our Year 6 children to leave Bexhill Academy and go on to bigger and better things at secondary school! To celebrate the end of their Bexhill journey, the children and teachers are going to look back at some of the amazing times they have had at school.

The Y6 Graduation will take place at Townend Farm Club on Tuesday 16th July and doors will open at 1:30pm, with the show starting soon after at 1.45pm. We have chosen to have the Graduation at this fabulous venue following parental feedback about our Christmas End event in December and due to the limited capacity of our hall. This means that we should be able to offer more tickets per family within reason.

If you are planning on joining us for the Graduation, please return the slip below, indicating how many tickets you will need below.

After the Graduation (which will end at approximately 3pm), at 4pm we are going to host a Graduation Party for our Year 6 leavers. This gives our pupils an hour, to go home get ready and return to Townend Farm Club for the party. The party will be from 4pm until 6pm. Please tick to let us know if you will be collecting your child at 6pm.

Sports-day (EYFS and KS1)

Wednesday 17th July 2019

Your child needs to come into school in their full PE kit (purple t-shirt, black shorts and black plimsolls).

If your child is in Nursery or Reception, the gates to the field will open at 9.15am for a 9.30am start.

(If your child attends an afternoon nursery session and would like to join in they can come in 9.15-10.30am in addition to their PM session)

If your child is in Year 1 or Year 2, the gates to the field will open at 10:30am for a 10:45am start.

The gates will be locked shortly after these times so please ensure you arrive on time.

If the weather is forecast to be hot, please apply sun cream before your child comes to school and supply your child with a sun hat and water bottle.

There will be an area for parents to sit/stand. It is highly important that you remain in this area before and during the races and it is equally important that your child remains in their area with their teachers. However, at the end of all of the activities, you will be able to speak to your child and purchase refreshments. We look forward to seeing you there.

Bexhill After School Clubs

Please can we remind you that these have all finished now and we will pick them back up in the Autumn term.

Attendance

This weeks attendance is 95%

Children have been winning £5 for their class piggy bank throughout the year. The children have been given their cash today to spend in their classrooms.  The children’s choices range from McFlurries  to board games!

Behaviour

This week Mandela won the most DoJo’s, well done everyone. There will be a final prize for the house who wins the most for over the whole year!

Our children who have won behaviour awards will go on their trip to Sunderland Trampoline park on July 11th. There is 18 in total - well done everyone! Children have had separate letters regarding this trip.

Class DoJo

The children have been saving their DoJo’s all year and will be able to spend them next week. Tell them to look out for their choices this week!

Term Time Holidays

Our attendance has been a great concern to us for a while and again it was picked up as an issue in our recent OFSTED. One of the  main problems  is children taking holidays in term time. Over 80 families have done this so far and as you can understand this has had a massive impact upon our attendance. Although we understand prices of holidays increase significantly in the school holidays, we need to be more pro active in ensuring our children are at school.

As a school we will be working with the Local Authority to tighten up penalty procedures regarding this issue from September.

Please note that the government have has announced that it is changing the traditional May Day Bank Holiday from Monday 4th May to Friday 8th May 2020.

See announcement here: -

Lates

From Monday if your child is late, you will need to complete some paperwork. Pease do not leave your child in reception until this has been completed. We will of course support you if you require support with this.
