Autumn Term 2018 Week Beginning 10th September

Hi, welcome back ... Please note new dates added to the calendar this week are in red.

Swimming

This will continue every Tuesday for our Year 4 children. Please remember all children need their kits (Black/Blue trunks/Costume, towel and swimming cap). Lessons are held at Castleview.

Attendance

We are always striving to improve attendance at Bexhill, as compared to other schools, it has not been good enough. A leaflet should have made its way home to you this week, stressing how valuable it is for your child to be in school and on time. There is a little ticket attached for you to complete and return to school once you have read the leaflet. On Wednesday 19th we will put all the completed tickets in for a lucky draw. The winner will receive a  £20 take away voucher.

Every term our children recieve a certificate for 100% attendance. We recognise that some children are off for medicals, speech and language appointments etc,  so on a half termly basis we will enter all pupils who have  98+ % attendance  into a draw every half term. The winner will recive a £10 voucher Adrianos Italian Restaurant. This restaurant is quite new and is located in Castletown.

This weeks attendance is  97%

The class who won the attendance award this week goes to Mr Mullick and Miss Knox

London

We have filled all our spaces for London (Y5/6). Please ensure your deposits are in by 28th September.

Behaviour

Children have been working really hard this week earning Dojos! Each week they all compete to win the House Cup, this week the winners were Darling House  with a whopping 981 points! Well done - they are our first ever winners!

Our Year 6 children will be competing with one another to be Head of House. We will let you know who they are as soon as they have completed their speeches and the children have voted!

PE

We still have several children who do not have a PE kit in school. Particualy in Year 1. Please can you ensure your child's PE kit is in school for the full week.

Beamish

Our Year 5/6 children will be attending Beamish to launch their topic. This trip will cost £13 and will take place on  Tuesday 2nd October. The children will be late returning back  to school (4:40pm) to ensure that we get our moneys worth by completing 3 workshops!

Macmillan Coffee Morning

On Wednesday 26th September Bexhill Academy will be holding a coffee morning in support of The World's Biggest Coffee Morning to raise money for Macmillan Cancer Support.  We would like to invite you, along with your friends and family, to join us in the school hall between 9am and10am.

In preparation for the event, we're asking for cake and raffle prize donations please. We'd be thrilled to receive homemade and shop bought cupcakes, fruit loaves, chocolate cookies, lemon drizzle cakes and fairy cakes to name but a few!

We respectfully ask that if cakes or biscuits contain nuts that they are labelled clearly, no peanuts please.

Any "free from" cakes that are suitable for allergy sufferers are most welcome so that everyone can enjoy a treat. Please deliver your cake donations to the school office after school on Tuesday 25th September.

We would also be delighted if you could donate some prizes for our raffle too; we are hoping to have an adult and a children’s raffle!  Please donate raffle prizes to the school office any time from now until Tuesday 25th September.

Last time you helped us to raise over £400 and this time we are hoping, with your support and generosity, that we can beat this and raise even more for this amazing charity!

We need your help!!!!

Your school needs you!

Our EYFS outside area is in desperate need of a tidy up and some keen hands to keep it tidy as it is bigger than we are used to and it's extremely hard to keep on top of!

Do you have a couple of hours once a week spare?

Are you a keen gardener?

Are you handy in the outdoor area?

If so, please leave your details in a private facebook message on our school page or leave your details at the main office.

Many hands make light work!
