Autumn Term 2018 Week Beginning 17th September

Hi, welcome back ... Please note new dates added to the calendar this week are in red.

Breakfast Club

As you are aware Town End Academy run a free breakfast club with support from the Greggs foundation, in order to provide all of our pupils with a nutritious start to their day.  This breakfast club is a great social experience for our pupils and allows them to have fun and chat together before school starts.

As it is a free breakfast club we don’t expect parents/carers to book their children into specific days.  We run the club as a drop in and will be continuing to offer this service.

This letter is to make you aware of your responsibilities regarding breakfast club.

It is your responsibility to ensure your child arrives safely and comes into school for breakfast club.  If you allow your child to walk to breakfast club on their own, school does not accept responsibility for them arriving.  Pupils will be registered at 9am (in line with school attendance procedures) and you will be telephoned if your child is not present at this time.

It is recommended that all children are brought to breakfast club by an adult, however it is your choice if you feel this is not necessary (only for pupils in year 5 and 6) and your responsibility should they not arrive.

Thank you for your continued support with our amazing breakfast club

Swimming

Several children still do not have swimming caps, please can you ensure your child has one for this week. (Both girls and boys need one)

Attendance

Last week we issued our attendance flier. We put all the raffle tickets into the pot and drew the winner in assembly. The winner was Layla in Y4 (Please contact mrs Walton for your prize 🙂

This weeks attendance is  97%

The class who won the attendance award this week was Miss Cutlers class (Y3)

London

We have filled all our spaces for London (Y5/6). Please ensure your deposits are in by 28th September. We have more than the allocated places, if all the deposits are paid by the deadline, then we will try to add extra places to the booking but if this isnt possible we will have to draw the names out of a hat.

Beamish

Our Year 5/6 children will be attending Beamish to launch their topic. This trip will cost £13 and will take place on  Tuesday 2nd October. The children will be late returning back  to school (4:40pm) to ensure that we get our moneys worth by completing 3 workshops!

Contact sheets

We have several parents who have not updated their contact sheets. We have sent them out again. Please can these be returned asap.

Photographer

We have booked the photographer in earlier than usual as many parents said they would like the photos for presents etc. The photographer is booked in for 15th October. As usual all siblings (including babies) will be done before school. All pupils will then have their individual photos taken. If you wish for this not to happen then please let our school office know.

Macmillan Coffee Morning

On Wednesday 26th September Bexhill Academy will be holding a coffee morning in support of The World's Biggest Coffee Morning to raise money for Macmillan Cancer Support.  We would like to invite you, along with your friends and family, to join us in the school hall between 9am and 10am.

In preparation for the event, we're asking for cake and raffle prize donations please. We'd be thrilled to receive homemade and shop bought cupcakes, fruit loaves, chocolate cookies, lemon drizzle cakes and fairy cakes to name but a few!

We respectfully ask that if cakes or biscuits contain nuts that they are labelled clearly, no peanuts please.

Any "free from" cakes that are suitable for allergy sufferers are most welcome so that everyone can enjoy a treat. Please deliver your cake donations to the school office after school on Tuesday 25th September.

We would also be delighted if you could donate some prizes for our raffle too; we are hoping to have an adult and a children’s raffle!  Please donate raffle prizes to the school office any time from now until Tuesday 25th September.

Last time you helped us to raise over £400 and this time we are hoping, with your support and generosity, that we can beat this and raise even more for this amazing charity!

We need your help!!!!

Your school needs you!

Our EYFS outside area is in desperate need of a tidy up and some keen hands to keep it tidy as it is bigger than we are used to and it's extremely hard to keep on top of!

Do you have a couple of hours once a week spare?

Are you a keen gardener?

Are you handy in the outdoor area?

If so, please leave your details in a private facebook message on our school page or leave your details at the main office.

Many hands make light work!
