Forest School
At Bexhill Academy our children in EYFS experience Forest School. Our children in Nursery access Forest School in our outdoor provision during Forest School Friday’s each half term. The skills children develop help to prepare them for further development throughout their primary school education.
Forest School is a child-centred inspirational learning process, that offers opportunities for holistic growth through regular sessions. It is a long-term program that supports play, exploration and supported risk taking. It develops confidence and self-esteem through learner inspired, hands-on experiences in a natural setting.
Research suggests that children are more likely to develop better health an wellbeing when they have had opportunities to experience nature. When children have developed core strength through gross motor activities they have a better posture and are able to sit for periods of time on chairs during lessons. When children develop strength in their wrists and fingers they have good control over their pencil/ pen when writing/ drawing.
