Residentials
At Bexhill Academy, we believe residential school trips are a great way for students to develop confidence and independence. Visiting new locations and staying away from home helps pupils gain skills, knowledge and life experience that will help them excel inside and outside of the classroom!
Residential school trips provide a wealth of benefits for our pupils. These include:
- Building self-confidence and independence - Students get to experience different environments, giving them the opportunity to do things that they otherwise might not have the courage to try.
- Improving academic performance - Taking part in hands-on learning activities gives students the chance to expand their knowledge in alternative ways. This can boost academic performance for those who struggle with classroom learning.
- Physical development - Trips to outdoor adventure centres involve physical activity, allowing students to try out new sports and stay active. This aids fitness performance while also encouraging sportsmanship and teamwork.
Here at Bexhill Academy, we pride ourselves on the experiences we provide for our children.
In Lower Key Stage 2, our children have the opportunity to experience camping with the West View Project who offer a varied outdoor learning programme to Bexhill Academy. With a wealth of experience in delivering outdoor learning, a depth of resources and the flexibility to plan around our children’s needs, the West View Project delivers an experience that will enhance our children’s learning, independence and provide memories to last a lifeline.
In Upper Key Stage 2, our children have the chance to experience two very different residentials. We alternate between an Explore London Visit and an outdoor adventurous centre in the Lake District.
Our London residential allows children to explore and emerge in the experiences of our capital city. From sight-seeing on the Thames, to a visit to a West End Musical, it is an opportunity not to be missed and leaves our children with memories they will cherish forever.
We also provide our children in Years 5 and 6 with an opportunity to experience life in the great outdoors with a two night residential at Derwent Hill, an outdoor adventure near Keswick in the Lake District. During their time away, our children will experience real-world learning out on the lake and in the mountains. Derwent Hill’s combination of location, support and friendly professional staff is unique. They pride themselves on flexibility, homely atmosphere, good food and inspiring setting. Young people experience real-world learning out on the lake and in the mountains, and an extended family atmosphere.
